Mercator International
Rebranding & modernization for the digital age.
Project: Identity & Website
Role: Concept Development, Art Direction, UI Design
Firm: Jennergy, Inc.
Mercator international is a Seattle-based consultancy whose focus is on helping the maritime, global transportation, and logistics companies.

Assignment
Mercator was looking to update its logo mark and modernize their website by making it responsive.

Goals:
• Create a simplified logo mark
• Design a new responsive website
• Tell the visual story through the use of custom photography

Approach
As a lead designer, my primary task was conceptualizing and finalizing the logo design, photography selection, website design, and developer handoff.

The logo was revamped to be simple and iconic. A customized "M" was created to add movement and make it more recognizable. The color was updated to a marine blue to represent their primary maritime clients, and placing it in the circle was a subtle tie back to the globe of the previous mark. Finally, the mark was paired with a custom recognizable font to bring it all together.

A new responsive WordPress website was designed to provide a better mobile experience. I focused on a blue, grey and green color palette throughout the website to relate to the Mercator’s marine industry specialty. Photography was selected that helped give a human element and help familiarize the users with the Mercator team.
A New Logo
The new logo adds movement with the stylization of the "M" while carrying over the globe and color blue in the form of a simple recognizable circle.
Other Explorations
As with all new identities, several marks and typography treatments were explored before landing on the final solution.

Alternate explorations of the Mercator mark and typography.

Collateral
Simple, clean business cards were created to complete the rebrand package.
A New Website
A new responsive WordPress website was designed, making it easy for the client to maintain with the help of the content management system.
